This cross is the top part of a 4 metre high freestanding cross found in the churchyard at Nevern, Dyfed, in Wales. It is thought to date from the 9th century AD and the knotwork has Scandinavian influence. The circular aspect of the Celtic cross is considered pre-Christian and represents solar energy and the great wheel of life.
