Beautiful sterling silver Earrings made with two light plates joined together, shaped and embossed to represent two peacocks facing each other, a decorative element that dates back to the Sassanian, the last Persian dynasty before the advent of Islam.
In the ancient customs of these people – do not forget that Persia was also called The Peacock Kingdom – when two peacocks were depicted symmetrically on either side of the trunk of the Tree of Life it symbolized both duality and an higher unit. The symbolism of this subject is made even more prominent by the tradition of the divulgation of the Islamic faith, according to which the Prophet Muhammad, before the creation, was himself a being made of shining light that looked like a peacock.
These two plates has been then fire-glazed with a brilliant cobalt blue in the background and with a rust color to accentuate the animals’ details. To top it all, seven small pendants with an old red coral each have been placed as an ulterior decor.
Precious ornaments, these earrings are interesting both as wearable light jewels and as a collectible.
