Charm with Welsh dragon, engraved and decorated with enamels.
The official emblem of Wales, the Red Dragon – y ddraig goch – is probably of Chinese origin and was introduced to Britain by the Romans about 1800 years ago. Initially it served as a military standard, but later became the flag symbol of the nation.
Henry VII himself was proclaimed descendant of Cadwaladar, the great Welsh king traditionally referred to as ‘the last king of Britain’, whose dragon was symbolic of the strength, pride and courage of the country.
