L’Abalone – Heliotis – è un mollusco che vive lungo le coste mediterranee, d’Africa, Australia e Nuova Zelanda così come nelle Americhe, viene raccolto sia a scopo alimentare sia per l’utilizzo della sua conchiglia che, assieme allo Spondylus – Spiney Oyster -, è da sempre ricercata ed adoperata per la creazione di gioielli e manufatti data la straordinaria bellezza della sua colorazione, una volta lavorata. La misura dell’anello è regolabile grazie alla montatura che, nella parte del gambo, è stata elegantemente e praticamente risolta tagliando ed avvicinandone le due estremità, permettendo così di adattarlo a misure diverse.
